A funny thing happened on the main street of Mudgee. We wandered into this converted butcher shop operating as a cafe and felt ourselves attracted to the vibe and the nice sheep's head logo hanging underneath the awning.

We got talking to owner James O'Neill, and it turns out that he's a refugee from Sydney who lived around the corner from the REMO General Store in Darlinghurst. So, the rest was easy:

US: Let us know if you'd ever like to see that sheep's head logo on a REMO T Shirt.

HIM: "Sure. We'll take 20 with long sleeves to start with."

You gotta love a decisive person. Is that the city or the country speaking, we wonder.

Anyway, you can find the Butcher Shop Cafe at 49 Church Street in Mudgee on the Central Tablelands in western New South Wales. It's a good place to eat honest country fare.

Cute t-shirt and a great looking cafe. The Remo community never ceases to surprise me though. Not only have I run into two friends I haven't seen for a while as featured custOMERs (one of whom now lives in Switzerland), but as it turns out James O'Neill's wife used to be my hairdresser too! Spooky.

James's wife is also an ex-sydney hairdresser icon! Gwenda from now defunct 'lunatic fringe' in darlo. Since James moved her to mudgee my hair has been in mourning!. Mudgee now has a great place to eat, a fab t-shirt to wear and fabulous hairdos! Gwenda come back!!!!

| unique front window
I wonder if this is the same butcher shop I noticed when passing through a few years ago, which had a huge marble slab for the front window display which protruded under the glass, for drainage and cleaning I guess. Never seen this set up anywhere else in the country.
