in my early 20's I was in Sydney and while strolling up Oxford St came across this really cool shop - REMO. I bought a few things... my favourite being the classic white shirt with REMO printed on the front. It was my favourite shirt for about 2 years. Once I work out how to use my scanner I will put a pic of me wearing it on my profile....

The word "Hell" was introduced to China by Christian missionaries who claimed that non-converted Chinese were all "going to Hell" when they died. The Chinese, thinking (not unreasonably) that "Hell" was the proper English term for the afterlife, adopted the word.

Hence the name: Hell Bank Note.

Here's the idea: when people die, their spirits go to an afterlife where they continue to live on, doing many of the same sorts of things they did while alive: eating, drinking, sleeping, playing with the kids, and so on … In order to ensure that the deceased have access to lots of good things in the afterlife, their relatives give them gifts; and one of the very best things to give a freshly dead person is a stack of high-denomination Hell Bank Notes ~ money to spend in the afterworld.

The front of any Hell Bank Note features the Lord of Hell, a middle-aged guy with a beard who wears a flat-topped hat from which strings of beads dangle. On the back is an image of the actual Bank of Hell.

So, now you know.

This is a beauty. The note itself is fantastic, and it is reproduced in such vibrant color you can’t help but want to wear it day and night.

Tim Sheedy has given this product a 4 star rating | Looks good on red!
My wife and I have one each - it looks great on the womens red fitted tee. But I have also been told it is NOT GOOD to wear it in China, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong etc. Just keep this one for Australia, Europe or North America.

Oh dear, I probably should have chosen more wisely since my boyfriend's mum and best friend's family are Chinese... Better not wear it in their presence!! Cool t-shirt though.

JaneTA

JaneTA has given this product a 2 star rating | Hellishly REMOte Possibility?
This is new and looks great. But a shame one can't see the graphic in all its lovely detail first though? Better if you drop the back graphic? Sure to be a REMO classic when that neat history gets out? And given there are a couple of billion Chinese about, may simply be one by default?

Geoff King

Geoff King has given this product a 1 star rating | Not for use in Asia
In most of Asia this is the cultural equivalent of a T-Shirt bearing the phrase: 'I hope you die soon!'

Ant

Ant has given this product a 1 star rating | Don't wear it in Hong Kong!
Cantonese people are a superstitious lot - anything related to death is incredibly unlucky. To walk around with this on your chest is just inviting trouble. Terrible feng shui.
