Some things look very funny upside down.

Take this pineapple for example. It's a full colour version of an idea submitted to us in 1990 by Brooklyn based designer Beth Bartholemew.

To accompany her artwork Beth wrote these words:

Why do continents drift apart?

Why do babies cry so much?

Why do we have two eyes?

Why are pineapples upside down?

Is upside down one word?

I always thought Queenslanders were a bit strange growing up...my Boyfriend thought Premier Joe was a comdey sketch on the radio, and after living in the jungles of FNQ for 6 yrs prefered myself as a Jungle Queen to a gavationaly challenged pineapple. I liked it all the same.

was in hawaii ~ once ~ on the ~ not so ~ big island ~ and ~ this was how ~ some of the locals there ~ used to stack ~ their pineapples ~ just to keep the ~ mega bugs ~ from hacking into them ~ but ~ this only worked a ~ short time ~ because ~ there are some ~ real mean ~ critters there ~ so maybe ~ this is not ~ so strange? ~ and ~ in any case ~ this is how all oz pineapples ~ the best in the world ~ would look ~ to any designer ~ from the northern hem ~ they even get ~ their maps wrong ~ but ~ whatever one's orientation ~ this REMOT ~ looks good ~ to me ~ :)
