Michaela Carter (aka "Kala") first visited Australia from England in 1991, fell in love with the country, and then returned permanently to live here with son Kieran and mother in 1996. She now lives in Berry NSW.

Kala: "Being a single mum and wanting to make a better life for my son I made a life changing decision to follow up on a spill proof cup that had been given to my son for his first birthday. This was the first cup of its kind that actually worked. I began importing them into Australia."

Over the years, and with plenty of hard work and tears along the way her business grew from an original order of 24 cups to container loads supplying accounts throughout Australia and New Zealand. Armed with loads of customer feedback gathered over the years she decided that a even better cup was possible ... a cup that met the specific demands of Australian parents and their children.

Kala's Cups were born:

• Unique spill-proof valve (when the child stops drinking the fluid stops flowing)
• Light and easy to handle by children even when full of juice
• Spout is centred (assists with co-ordination, spout will go easily into mouth from any angle)
• Spout is round (makes for easy transition from breast or bottle)
• Dust cover (to protect from germs when out and about)
• Handles are designed for easy holding for small fingers
• Lids are screw on (easy to open and close)
• Changeable (as the child grows the spout can be taken off the cup and put onto any standard 28mm diameter water or juice bottle)
• Bold colour dyes used for the cups (mix and match base/spouts with lids)
• Name panel and waterproof label (makes it easy to identify child’s cup)

| Really, truly no leaks!
This cup is fantastic as soon as you get the hang of putting the lid on properly. If you don't then it will leak - but that's your own fault really! Correctly fitted this is leak proof like no other cups on the market, and believe me, I've tried them all. It did take a little while for my baby/toddler to get the hang of sucking strongly enough on the spout to actually get a mouth full of water so there was a while when we just had to try and then put it away and try again a couple of days later, and then suddenly, she got it. It is the magic downunder spout! Who knew I could feel so strongly about a child's drinking cup!

These are fantastic...they hurl them, they invert them, they drop them, they kick them...and occassionally they drink from them...and leave no evidence outsidt the cup!!!

| SAFETY RISK - DO NOT USE
I have to warn you all, that the valve in the top of these comes loose - my little boy choked on it recently. Luckily he eventually coughed it up, but he scared the life out of me for a few moments. I thought they were fantastic, but I won't use them any more - my little boy is 2, but imagine if a baby choked on these. I have written to the manufacturer and her response was that it's not possible for the valve to come out - I have other friends who have had them come out as well... I think the Manufacturer is more worried about $$$$ than the health of their customers. TELL YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILIES - I would hate to see a child hurt as a result of using these cups.

It sounded great whe I discovered it here at REMO and yes...it doesn't spill from the spout....BUT the lids are NOT easy to screw and unscrew, it DOES leak from the screw-on/lid area (not the spout)... the plastic has warped/bent out of shape...AND the bottom of one of the handles has cracked and come off from the cup!my son has only had it a few weeks and its been carefully used and cared for! boo hoo.....
