REM'O'Matic Gift Guide

For the last two years I have done all my Christmas shopping online at Remo. So very convenient, and the source of so many cool gifts and everyday items. I get all my coffee and soap at REMO and have squeezed my kids into matching stripey things. Every lucky child that turns one in our circle gets a buzzy bee, and my little boy makes helicopters out of Zoob. I dry myself off after a swim with a waffle weave towel, cuddle the biggest rubber duck in the world in my bath, and celebrate spring by slipping on a plain black or blue REMO t-shirt. I'm a true fan.

Live in Bondi where Life is Better!

This slogan and its accompanying graphic is actually quite old. The 1930 Bondi Publicity League was formed by a group of Bondi Beach Real Estate Agents. The Great Depression hit the area hard; and each Saturday, members of the Bondi Publicity League would decorate their cars, trucks and bikes and tour the western suburbs of Sydney handing out leaflets and talking up the value of living in Bondi. They sponsored surf carnivals, free theatre in the Pavilion ... and Saturdays and Sundays were devoted to rental bargains to be had in the area!

Read more about this, and other stories about Bondi, in a new Book edited by Caroline & Lee Cass, the people behind The Bondi View community newspaper.

PS: The red circle at the centre of the graphic is not a reference to the Japanese flag (no surprises there). It is rather a reference to the Bondi Tram and the symbol that was used to represent the Bondi Line.
